How long should a friendship bracelet be?

How long should a REGULAR CHEVRON be? I'm going to have four long strings and tie it in half. Help!

I usually start with 1.25 yards of thread for each strand, but I don't double mine and fold over, so in your case, I would suggest 2.5 yds for each of the four strings. That should give you plenty for a braid on each end and a bracelet of about 5.5-6.0 inches in length, probably more if you needed it.
