What should I add to my slab piece?
In my clay class I am making and upper case L in cursive with slabs. I already finished the body, but now I have to add something onto it. I don't want to do the stereotypical heart, flowers, sun, or polka dots, but I am having trouble coming up with ideas. There really are no guidelines as to what it's supposed to be, so if you have any they would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. I was thinking of maybe carving roofs of houses on the very bottom and then doing a night sky with stars on the top, possibly adding lyrics from my favorite song somewhere in there(Yellow by Coldplay). What do you think?
How about some kind of textural pattern? The letter L probably isn't all that well suited to a full scene, but if that's what you're feeling then go for it... but if it were me I would pick out one of the things you mentioned, and turn it into a pattern that covered the whole sculpture- so, a night sky, or song lyrics, or some kind of rooftop pattern.
But, you're the artist. Why not look around the internet for some inspiration?
