Suitable promise ring?
My boyfriend and I decided to get rings for each other to commemorate our 2-year-old relationship - since the rings would be a surprise to each other, they wouldn't match (unless we're so alike in the way we think).
We've printed out the ring size measuring tape from Blue Nile's website so we both know each other's size. Since I have no idea what he's getting for me, I'm afraid the ring I choose for him would be below his expectations.
First of all, I have no idea what type of metal he likes or dislikes since he wears no jewelry (he only wears a wristwatch). I have narrowed my selection down to titanium for its gun-metal color and durability. Before that, I was considering carved Burmese jadeite or amber but I couldn't find genuine suppliers in my city - most of them were selling nephrites.
Is there a guideline on how much I should spend on a promise ring? Is a simple titanium band with no precious stones too cheap?
Hey. My BF and I just got promise rings for each other. We have no idea what they look like. Titanium is pretty expensive. I got him a stainless steel ring. It was inexpensive, but durable. I wouldn't suggest going with claddagh rings since a lot of people wear them. My BF's has the word "balance" engraved on in it in the Mayan language. I chose one word that symbolizes life in general. If you have been otgether for two years, I don't think he will have any expectations, and just love what you get him. It's really not about the ring, but the promise that comes attached to it.
