A question about young earth, um, theory?
Right now there are between 1.5 and 2.0 million known species of animals and plants. A rough estimate based on the fossil record and other evidence suggests that 99.9 percent of all known species that have existed on Earth are extinct. Add generous margins of errors where you see fit. Assume a "young earth" between 6000 and 10000 years old. Disregard the fossil record if you like, and assume that all animals and plants were created during the first few days of creation as described in the Bible. Or not, it's really not that relevant.
With these facts in mind, apparently Christian god snuffed out a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand of species for each day the earth existed. Doesn't that seem a little wasteful? And, well, rather psychotic?
Scooterpooper, while yours was a bit of a non-answer, do you mean the fossils do not actually represent real plants and animals which were alive at one time?
Yes, but since it never happened that any god did anything, not to worry
Oh, and I was just idly wondering where "scooterpoop" got the numbers for how many living organisms have lived throughout the history of the earth, to come up with that number...? And did he account for the fact that more than 3/4ths of the earth's biomass (living ogranisms) are soft-bodied, and so would never leave any fossils?
Oh, wait, he just made that number up, since he doesn't have any actual data to "run numbers" on. Never mind then.
Peace.
